PARKS AND RECREATION DIRECTOR
Parks Department
The Director of P&R is under the direction of the Director of Public Works. The position administers the operations of the department; responsible for maintenance of Lake Jacksonville properties and maintenance of city buildings.
The applicant will preferably have a Bachelor's Degree in Park Administration, Recreation, Landscape Architecture, Horticulture or related field, five years experience in a supervisory capacity in parks and recreation. The applicant must have excellent communication skills in public speaking and strong writing ability. The applicant must be able to manage multiple projects at the same time, possess effective personnel management and efficient computer skills. Must have a valid Texas Class C driver's license.
The position is full time with full benefits that include health, dental and life insurance; vacation and sick time; 10 paid holidays; longevity pay, Sick Leave Bank; and retirement benefits. The salary will depend upon education, experience and qualifications. The successful applicant will be required to pass a work fitness physical and drug screen.
LIBRARY CIRCULATION CLERK
Part Time Position (20 hours/ weekly including every Sunday: 12:45 p.m. - 5:15 p.m.)
Requirements:
HS Diploma or GED, or 2-4 years of college in Liberal Arts. Will
consider responsible student. Must have excellent communication
skills; be computer literate; knowledge of library organization a plus.
LABORER/DRIVER
Street Department
The
Laborer/Driver position assists in pothole patching and street cuts for
patching; makes driveway tie-ins; drive patch truck; dump truck.
Requires: HS Diploma or equivalent; six months experience; prefer
experience in forming and pouring concrete. Applicant must have clear
criminal history and clean driving record.
WASTEWATER PLANT OPERATOR
Utilities Department
Applicant must have a minimum of C wastewater license; HS Diploma or equivalent; able to obtain a B wastewater certificate within one year. Minimum of one year experience in the wastewater field. Applicant should have the ability to lift 50 lbs. Starting rate will be $11.00 plus attractive benefit package with room for advancement.
WASTEWATER PLANT OPERATOR TRAINEE

The City of Jacksonville is offering a great opportunity for someone to train as a Wastewater Plant Operator. The ideal candidate will have two years of work experience as a laborer and a desire to learn this field. The candidate should have the minimum of HS diploma or equivalent; college and/or degree a plus. Applicamnt must have the ability to lift 50 lbs. The applicant will be required to obtain a C wastewater license within one year of employment. The beginning rate is $8.40 an hour plus benefits with room for advancement.
The successful applicant will be required to pass a work fitness physical, drug screen, clear criminal history, and a clear driving record.
